About Marc

Renowned artist, curator and teacher Marc Alexander is best known for his hyper-realistic portrait and wildlife paintings. His work combines traditional oil painting with gilding and texturing, drawing inspiration from Dutch and Flemish masters while addressing themes of society and human nature in a contemporary way.

With a background as a Museum Technologist and Curator at the Pretoria Art Museum, Marc has built a career in painting, curation, and gallery management. From 2015 until 2023, he and his wife, Lindy, directed The Studio Art Gallery in Simon’s Town, establishing it as a respected contemporary art space.

Today, Marc devotes his time to painting and teaching through the Alexander Art Academy, where he shares classical and contemporary techniques with students of all levels. His structured yet encouraging approach helps artists gain confidence, refine their skills, and unlock their creative potential.
